Golf Lessons – The Ladder Drill

As promised my fellow golfers’ another Putting Drill to help you shoot those lower scores.

Well I hope you’ve been practising The Clockwork drill??

The ladder drill helps not only the importance of keeping the putter head moving back & forth along the chosen target line but also distance control.

You need 6 balls and I want you to place the first ball 1 foot away from the hole then place the rest at 1 foot distances in a line moving away from the hole to create a ladder effect, so you should have 6 balls in a line.

The drill is similar to The Clock drill, you have to start obviously with the closest ball and keep holing each ball, miss 1 and go back & start again until every ball is holed without missing.

Good luck & I promise if you do each drill once a week your scores will start to Improve.

The Putter – Your Key To Lower Scores

Question : What Percentage of your game is made up of PUTTING??

Answer : At LEAST 50%

Yes that’s right at least 50% of your scores are made up of how many PUTTS you have during your round…

So if we believe that PUTTING is half of your scores my next question to you is : What percentage of you practise time do you devote to your PUTTING?? This is a question that all my golfers’ hate me asking simply because if they were to give me the honest answer it would be “Well Swing Doctor to be honest I never practise my PUTTING”…

It’s Simple if we wish to lower our scores & handicaps then spend a little more time practise your PUTTING with my PUTTING Tips I gave out 10 days ago plus I shall give 2 more PUTTING tips this week..

So brush off the dust from your PUTTER and get out there and grove in a lovely smooth PUTTING Stroke..

Win Tournaments Like Mr. Waggle Did

The final major the USPGA Championships have drawn the 2013 majors to a close with a first time win for Mr Waggle Jason Dufner beating Jim Furyk to the title at Oak Hill Country Club.

If you managed to see the golf then you will know that Jason Dufner is renowned for his waggle when addressing the golf ball.

The reason for many golfers waggle is to get them into a relaxed position and to act as a trigger before their takeaway to help create a nice smooth tempo through-out their swings, this along with a balanced follow-through leads toward good consistent strikes and flight direction…

So the next time your on the range practising your game try to introduce a small waggle before your takeaway and see if that helps for a smoother swing…

See my Hints and Tips page for lesson advice

Let me know your outcome..

My USPGA Championship 2013 Betting Tips

Yes fellow golfers, today is the start of the final major of the year The USPGA Championship at Oak Hill which hosted The Ryder Cup in 1995 with Europe coming out as victorious.

Below are my 3 Major picks for this years tournament…

1. Tiger Woods – after an emphatic win last week the world No.1 has hit top form at the right time to add to his major tally.

2. Keegan Bradley – He’s not my most favourite of golfers with his twitching over the ball, but finishing 2nd last week to Tiger I feel Keegan won’t be to far away coming down the back 9 on Sunday.

3. Lee Westwood – Had to pick a European plus I really would like Lee to win a major, so a sympathy vote .

Let me know who your favourites are, looking forward to putting my feet up and watching some more great golf from the leading players from around the world.

Another Successful Golf Day For Me and My Team

I thought I would share a great Charity Golf Day I played in on Friday at The Drift Golf club which is a real hidden gem in the heart of the best golfing county of Surrey, I would thoroughly recommend it to all golfers, its set in a beautiful setting surrounded by trees and bushes, and its a tight golf course with not much space for errant shots, but after having golf lessons with myself my team came out victorious once again.

The day was in aid of The British Heart Foundation which I believe raised over £5000 on the day, there was approx 90 golfers playing on the day in teams of 4 with a team and Individual prizes to be won, to which we made a clean sweep. My team scored a brilliant  total of 98 stableford points (2 scores to count on each hole) plus I managed to shoot my best score of the year with a great score of 64, which was 8 under par with no drop shots, which i was extremely pleased with.

The picture below is the winning team, to which I teach 2 of , with the other member of the victorious team coming for golf lessons with myself shortly.

Why Should I Take Golf Lessons?

Here at my golf school, Golf Lessons Surrey, its a question quite often asked to me, do you think I can Improve my game by having golf lessons as I feel I’m not good enough to have them??

Well the answer is certainly YES!!

The most Important thing to remember when having golf lessons to help you to Improve is firstly an Instructor that makes you fully understand how your swing is working good and bad, 50% of Improvement Is understanding your faults, 50% Is fully understanding how and what Improvements are needed. The biggest thing my pupils have expressed back to me is ‘You make me fully understand Swing Doctor what I need keeping It simple to understand and do’

This will then give you a feel and a picture of how your game can improve.

Here at Golf lessons Surrey I can guarantee that I will Improve your entire game by 50% with enjoyment along the way, without to many complicated mechanics, keeping your practise time fun.

So please remember that I can certainly take your game to a new and exciting level helping you to reduce those scores plus handicap.

I look forward to helping your game real soon..

My Game can Improve YOUR Game!

Over the past 2 weeks I’ve been able to play in a mixture of some tournament golf and some invitational games too here in Surrey.

I was delighted to play golf at Queenwood In Surrey where Gary Player, Steve Waugh, & Wayne Rooney played too this past weekend, I ended up shooting 3 Under Par.

Effingham Golf Club in Surrey was where I was Invited by the largest property dealers to play in there annual match, I shot 4 under par as we claimed the trophy, in the picture underneath you will see I’ve taught 6 of the players in the winning team.

I was also delighted to play in a Tournament at Fulwell Golf Club recently which is a delightful course in Surrey where I had a bad start with a bogey on the 1st but 6 birdie’s later I shot a 66, 5 under par to claim first prize.

Queenwood, Effingham & Fulwell are just some of the most delightful golf courses within Surrey, so If you ever get the chance I would recommend playing them. (Queenwood by Invitational only).

So I managed to shoot some great scores never once being over par.

The Open Championship 2013

As the greatest golf tournament gets under way, its certainly looks like being a hot one, so I therefore don’t expect it to be extremely windy or raining but with this very hot weather we’ve been having lately the fairways are going to be extra bouncy therefore making the golf ball travel further but also bringing in those dreaded pot bunkers into play…

The Open was last held at Muirfield back in 2002 with Ernie Els coming out as Champion, but it was notable the collapse of Thomas Bjorn who held the lead going into the final few holes only to come unstuck at The Par 3 16th hole by leaving his bunker shot right back where it started….

But my most memorable Open at Muirfield was back in 1987, It was a titanic battle on the last day between Paul Azinger and our own Sir Nick Faldo, Sir Nick managed to par everyone of the 18 holes in the final round to pip Azinger by one and win his first of 6 major titles…

So lets hope this Open is just as dramatic with one of my 3 picks below coming out as Champion:-

1. Ernie Els

2. Justin Rose

3. Thomas Bjorn

Look out for my day 1 summary on Friday…

Enjoy The 2013 Open

My Betting Tips For The Open Championship

Yes it’s that time of year again folks, Mid July so its OPEN time!!

With the heatwave upon us, meaning those fairways at Muirfield will be hard and running like mad bringing a tough test to those golfers.

Here are my 3 tips for this years Open, let’s see if The Swing Doctor can make it 2 majors in a row….

1. Justin Rose – Have to stay loyal to The US Open Champ

2. Thomas Bjorn – The Big Dane who’s been showing great form leading up to this year event, plus was leading with just a few hole remaining the last time The Open was played at Muirfield….

3. Ernie Els – With my Inside knowledge of The Big Easy from South Africa, Ernie has been practising really really hard, harder than ever in a bid to claim back to back Open victories….

Let me know who your picks are????
